THE NEWS about Al Roker’s health has broken our souls

Al Roker, the beloved weatherman, has been away from TV owing to a significant health concern involving blood clots in his leg that traveled to his lungs, requiring hospitalization. Roker tweeted sincerely about his current rehabilitation process and his thankfulness for the care he’s received, as well as his appreciation for the support he’s received from his followers.

Roker has been forthright about his health issues in the past, including as his battle with prostate cancer and subsequent surgery for hip and knee problems. He has continued his athletic lifestyle, even running the Brooklyn Half Marathon.

Noting Roker’s positive attitude, “Today” show coworkers like Hoda Kotb, Dylan Dryer, Craig Melvin, and Savannah Guthrie openly expressed their support for him.

Roker went back to work on “Today” two months after his hospitalization for the clots. When he and his wife Deborah Roberts were interviewed, they called his situation “frightening” and “the scariest journey,” words that revealed the gravity of his condition, the prognosis of which was at one time unknown to even his physicians.
