Suzanne Somers, Three’s Company and Step by Step Actress, Dead at 76

Actress Suzanne Somers, best known for her roles in the TV shows “Three’s Company” and “Step by Step,” has died at the age of 76, a few months before turning 77.

Over the course of 23 years, she fought breast cancer. According to her publicist, “Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family.” Instead of a birthday party, the family will hold a memorial service to remember her exceptional life.

Alan Hamel, Suzanne’s husband, spoke highly of his wife’s resiliency and mentioned the extensive physical rehabilitation she had recently through. She announced the return of her breast cancer in July, but she was steadfast in her resolve to treat it with both complementary and traditional medicine. Alan and her family had been quite supportive, and she appreciated that.

Suzanne Somers was a New York Times best-selling author and had a number of classic appearances on television. She was extremely successful in the cosmetics and fitness industries; her ThighMaster training machine is a household name.

Alan, Bruce, step-children Stephen and Leslie, and six grandkids are all that are left of her blended family. The funeral will be small and close to home, and the burial will be in the fall.
